Kicking off 2018 with Workshops

In this Studio Workshop we explore textural painting with acrylics and modeling paste,
we'll create an abstract waterfall or series of cascades.

This is a two session program, due to the drying time required working with modeling paste.
It needs to dry significantly in order to work with the wet on wet or wash paint application.

applying modeling paste

In the first 1.5 to 2 hour session we plan our composition, examine examples to become familiar with the techniques effects, then apply the modeling paste in multiple layers to achieve dimensional depth.
Then, overnight or for several days, give the piece time to thoroughly dry and harden, so we can apply numerous applications of paint and water to create washes etc. as to not have the modeling paste get soft or reconstituted while painting.

In Session 2, we apply paint with wet on wet techniques, applying and removing the paint in a series of applications. When the back ground colors have dried, we go wet on dry with a number of different brushes to add the water flow final touches.

Age and level and experience prerequisite is open to high school age art students or older, some experience in painting encouraged but not necessary.
